I only rate it as 3/5 because it really is little more than an appendix to The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. If you remove the redundant material, it almost could have literally been an appendix despite the slim size of the original. As such, it was a bit of a dull read. However, as a summary of the key ideas and, more importantly, ways to help build a team toward effectiveness, it was a highly valuable supplement. This book is the more how-to, factual corollary to the "fable" version by the same author. I do not think it strictly necessary to read the fable before reading this one, but I do think it is helpful to have this follow-up to the fable. Most of the information is pretty standard leadership ideas, but it doesn't hurt to have a reminder/refresher. And it's definitely helpful for newer managers to learn from others. This isn't the best leadership book I've ever read, but neither was it the worse. There's definitely tidbits in here that can be useful, but once again the author leans more towards business/for-profit sectors than non-profit organizations.
