This book is about two cousins, one in Mexico and one in New York. Though their lives are different, they are very similar. One rides the subway and one rides their bike. One plays basketball and one plays football. At the end of the novel, they became close and want the other one to visit them. The author provides a glossary of Spanish words that were throughout the book. The illustration is unique, kind of cartoonish. This would be great for primary.

For beginning readers. This book is about two cousins that belong to Mexican culture. One lives in New York and the other lives in Mexico. They are writing letters to one another. You can see similarities and differences in their lives. It includes basic Spanish phrases with pictures. ( )

This story is designed for primary readers. The words are simple, but it also includes a variety of words in Spanish with corresponding images for context. This book includes letters written between two cousins: one who lives in America and one who lives in Mexico. They share details about their lives comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences. It was a little challenging to determine which pages were describing the life of each individual, however.

This book would connect well with students who have a pen pal, or students with families in another state or country. Students with a Mexican background may also enjoy hearing about an example of what daily life in Mexico is like for one of the main characters. ( )

This book is about an American boy names Charlie and his cousin Carlitos who lives in Mexico. The novel shows the comparison what one does in America and what the other does in Mexico. I really enjoyed seeing the differences, although there were not many. Despite the culture being different and having access to different things, readers can see how they have a lot in common and many of the same interest. It is a fun, exciting read that shows that even though they live far away from each other, they have more in common than it seems. ( )

I think this book is very cute and gives descriptive details of the life of the main character. It also is a good book for children trying to learn Spanish, as it gives many Spanish words and their meanings. It is very descriptive which helps the reader to visualize the city the nephew is talking about, along with the pictures. The illustrations are very well drawn and make it easy to see what the Spanish words are expressing in English. This book seems to be aimed at a more younger audience but could be enjoyed by any young adult, or anyone with an interest in learning Spanish. ( )
