The Hardy Boys: Killer Connections book recommendation by Daniel Cai - Wednesday, 8 August 2012, 12:34 PM Title: The Hardy Boys: Killer Connections Author: Franklin W. Dixon Genre: Mystery Overview / Synopsis: Frank and Joe Hardy are dispatched by the ATAC (American Teenagers Against Crime) to investigate some suspicious activities that have been taking place at the Willis Firth Academy, an exclusive private boarding school in New England. Dr. Darity, the new headmaster and his daughter, the only female student at the school, are under attack because of the way Darity is running the prestigious school. This book is the third book in the Killer Mystery trilogy. Review: The book is based in a very realistic setting, with scandals and drama in the schoolyard. One time, someone poisons some soft drink using chemicals that could be found in a science classroom, therefore pointing all suspicion to a student. It has many hidden meanings which allow the reader to find hidden clues and work the story out for themselves. It has a twisting and turning storyline, where suspects are added and ruled out one by one. One very suspicious suspect, a news reporter snooping around the campus, turns out to be innocent. This is another example of the culprit, who turns out to be the former headmaster, wreaking havoc on the school while making it look like someone else did it. It is a very complex book to read making you feel as if you are the one solving the mysteries. At the end, even the most unlikely person is under suspicion and leaves you saying, "Why didn't I think it would be him?". Recommendation: Overall, this is a great book that is very readable and will leave you on the edge of your seat, captivated by the suspense. It is not your usual action packed mystery story: rather, it plays out slowly, with lots of suspense. It is a great book to read and is a very good addition to anyone's library.
