Based on the movie, this is part romance novel, part action story, made for tweens, although the Lego sets based on the movie are directed at a much younger audience. A romanticized account of ancient history takes the place of any hint of modern culture. Nonetheless, Dastan with his pure heart is like Persian heroes in epics like the Book of Kings. Good advanced vocabulary, if cheesy: may the hero remain 'undaunted' by the 'craggy', 'wind-ravaged' landscape.

Libraries showing the movie should make the book available for those interested. (
