I was excited to read this book, the illustrations were beautiful, but two pages in you realize quickly that the words don't flow. There's nothing more frustrating when reading a children's book that has the appearance and cadence of rhyme, but doesn't rhyme well. It can ruin the story, and it ruined this one. Proper movement is very important in a children's book because you read them aloud. As a parent that reads a lot of books, there are a handful of books that "disappear" from our library because I hate constantly tripping over words that don't quite work or were forced to fit. When writing children't literature, you either rhyme, or you don't, there is no in between that lends well to any story.… (més)
