If you're looking for a historical novel with an appealing boy protagonist, HUNTING FOR THE MISSISSIPPI is a solid pick. In the late seventeenth century, Eustache Bréman immigrates with his mother and their neighbours to eastern North America, leaving behind the poverty, squalor, and disease of their lives in France. What he cannot know is that the land of plenty the immigrants have been promised will be hard won and only a few will succeed.

HUNTING FOR THE MISSISSIPPI presents a fast-paced story with plenty of action and drama. Beneath its historical adventure, however, it contains a serious story that raises numerous issues.
