What a delight! A serious topic-PTSD-handled in a way that children can learn without becoming frightened or getting brow beaten by the "message". Characters are well rounded and the plot is fast paced. The mystery of The Celt will keep you guessing until the final pages.

I read this YA book because a former member of our book group wrote it and we will be discussing it in an upcoming meeting. It was an enjoyable read told from the point of view of a fourth grade boy who loves video games. What made it particularly current was the theme of military veterans and post traumatic stress syndrome. I think kids would like the book. The author realistically depicted the parent interactions, the classroom experiences, and the way kids relate to each other, parents, and other authority figures. This book would be a good springboard for discussion on the topic of war and how it affects families and others at home.… (més)

"The Lost Celt" is a remarkable book. From the point of view of a boy named Mikey, we meet a Celtic warrior from Ireland. The book brings the reader close to history, and to an actual soldier. Riveting action leads Mikey, and his best friend Kyle, on a secret mission. They are compelled to find out the true story behind the displaced soldier, and they discover their own compassion along the way.

This book is an amazing page-turner. I learned about the challenges faced by soldiers today. Most of all, I learned something about the soldiers I have known.

An exciting adventure that mixes fantasy with reality. Gaming obsessed Mikey and his best friend Kyler come across a mysterious warrior in their town - who they are convinced is a time-traveling Celtic warrior. Mikey eventually unravels the mystery of this person, while learning important truths about himself and his community.

Not only is this a fun and well-told mystery/adventure, but it also touches upon the underrepresented issues of war, veterans, and PSTD.
