Miriam Greenblatt holds a B.A. in political science and economics from Hunter College in New York City and a teaching certificate from Spertus College and performed graduate work in political science and economics at the University of Chicago. She is a freelance writer and has written or coauthored mostra'n més numerous books on history, including young-adult biographies of John Quincy Adams and Franklin D. Roosevelt and history books at both the junior high and high school levels. General editor John S. Bowman received a B.A. in English literature from Harvard University and matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, as Harvard's Fiske Scholar, as well as at the University of Munich. In addition to editing the Chronology of Wars in the America At War set, he is the general editor of the other 13 volumes. He has worked as an editor for almost 50 years and as a freelance writer for almost as long. Bowman has edited some 20 works on wars and military history and another 15 on general history. Among the other projects he has edited are Facts About America's Wars, World Almanac of the Vietnam War, The Civil War Almanac, and Almanac of American History. mostra'n menys

The layout of this series is especially useful for middle-school research. The book is divided into three parts: a 14-page biography summarizing the highlights of Hatshepsut's life, including her Punt Expedition; a collection of sections ranging from 2 to 6 pages long covering various aspects of everyday life in Egypt; and a section of primary sources, which includes two popular Ancient Egyptian stories: "The Tale of a Shipwrecked Sailor" and "The Tale of the Doomed Prince". This book is very informative. It first third of the book is a biography about Augustus Caesar and his life. The second third of this book gives details about Roman life from entertainment to food to clothing, etc.. It gives information about slaves, poor people, and rich people. The information is very interesting and well-written. The last third is filled with primary sources from Roman times. There are pictures to accompany the text; although there could be more pictures and the layout of the text could be a little more student friendly. Overall, this could be an excellent resource for middle school and lower level high school students.… (més)
