Brianna Hale

At seventeen, Ryah isn't sure how much longer she can live with her father's abuse, until one day she takes her horse, Dandelion, and escapes. Cale is catching up with his traveling circus when he sees Ryah and saves her from her father. He then invites her to join him and his troop of performers. Ryah is enchanted with both the circus and with Cale, who seems hellbent on protecting her. The skills she has practiced with Dandelion over the years give her a place with the other equestrians and she does whatever she can to pull her weight, but she finds herself increasingly attracted to Cale and can't seem to break through his stubborn demeanor.

Ringmaster is a fairly simple romance with characters that are mostly one dimensional. The large age gap between Ryah and Cale is a bit disturbing, but it is generally handled well within the context of the plot. The setting for the story is difficult to determine due to the subject matter, but it is seemingly contemporary. Overall, Ringmaster is a quick, enjoyable read with very little depth.… (més)
