I instantly was intrigued by this book because on the cover it had a flying squirrel. Even before the first page, the readers attention is engrossed by the picture on the front, making them want to open the book to learn about all the other animals that are able to fly. Each page discusses a new animal and some characteristics that they have as well as discussing their flight pattern. I thought this was an adorable book and that several students would love to read it.

I really enjoyed this book and would enjoy having it in my classroom because I think it's on a really interesting subject that a lot of kids would not know a lot about but would want to learn more. I think this is also another really great example of a book that can introduce informational texts to young readers because it has bright pictures, lots of text features, a table of contents, and a glossary

Genre: Informational

Rodents of Unusual Size! They look to me a bit like furry hippos (scary weird teeth) and a bit like guinea pigs. My daughter disagrees. But the book is worth the price of admission for the picture of a whole field of capybaras lying near a lake.

Okay, well, I checked it out of the library, so there was no cost of admission. Not as much information as I might of liked, but I loved the pictures.

My children were both fascinated by this book and all the fun facts they learned from it. We read it several times. I was surprised by how much my kids enjoyed it and how much information they retained. I loved that the nonfiction subject matter intrigued my children as much as it did. I think the photographs on each page really helped.

Pros: Kids love animals, especially unique ones! They'll learn a lot of interesting facts about this unique bird.
