This is a great book for teaching kids the importance of standing up for themselves. I think a great lesson can be learned / taught through this story.

I would use this book with students from Kinder through 3rd grade. I would teach my students about the importance of friendship and how some conflicts may interfere in our friendships. I would teach them about talking about any issues in our friendships and how we can resolve those conflicts. This book is also about forgiveness to continue our relationships with others.
