Delia Owens is a wildlife scientist and writer, based in Idaho. Her work has been published in numerous journals, including Nature, and The African Journal of Ecology. Her awards include the John Burroughs Award for Nature Writing. - Delia Owens (born ca. 1949) is an American author and zoologist. Her debut novel Where the Crawdads Sing topped The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2019 for 25 non-consecutive weeks. The book has been on New York Times Bestsellers lists for more than a year. She has also written the memoirs Cry of the Kalahari, The Eye of the Elephant, and Secrets of the Savanna, with her then-husband, Mark, about their time studying animals in Africa.

La novel·la intercala -d'una manera molt eficaç- dos moments de la vida de la protagonista, la Kya: una narració lineal de la seva vida amb el judici que ha de sofrir acudada de l'assassinat d'un xicot del poble, que havia flirtejat durant més d'un any amb ella.
No la puntuo amb més estrelles perquè té molts punts d'inversemblança i cau en maniqueísmes.
