I am IMPRESSED. I've been reading science fiction for decades, and just found a new favorite. Great plot, great characters, great setting, and I will read more by this author.

I have rarely read a more compelling murder mystery. (It's more than that, but that's what kicks the plot up past 11.) The MC and all the characters are great. The setting's so well-ingrained that I feel like I might find regolith in my clothing. YES read this! I will be waving this book at every science fiction reader I know!

I have two relatively minor quibbles. 1) It is, considering there are very well-written women in this story, and considering NASA already does this, an easy upgrade to use "people" or "crew" instead of "men." Male writers are still making this mistake. Come on, guys, try to keep up. 2) The danger of solar flare/CME exposure, versus advance warnings - we get these now. Visit spaceweather.com or the official space weather site, www.swpc.noaa.gov if you're curious. Of course satellites die over time, but they'd replace them if it meant keeping the mining operation consistent. (By the time the plot thickens, that quibble about comm problems no longer matters.
