Sobre l'autor

Julia Quinn is the pseudonym used by Julie Pottinger (born Julie Cotler in 1970), a best-selling American historical romance author. Pottinger grew up in the New England and California. She has appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List nine times. Pottinger went to Harvard and majored in Art mostra'n més History. After getting this degree, she decided that she wanted to be a doctor, so she had to complete two more years of college to fulfill her science credits. While studying science, she drafted two romance novels. A few weeks after she was accepted to medical school, she discovered that her first two novels, Splendid and Dancing At Midnight, had been sold at auction, so she postponed medical school for two years while she wrote two more novels. By the time Pottinger finally entered Yale medical school, three of her books had been published. After only a few short months of studying medicine, however, she left medical school and devoted herself full-time to her writing. Pottinger lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Paul Pottinger. She was the recipient of the Romance Writers of America RITA Award in 2007 for "On the Way to the Wedding" and in 2008 for "The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever". In 2015 her novel, The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy made the New York Times bestseller list. Julia's title, Because of Miss Bridgerton, is a April 2016 New York Times bestseller. This romance is typical of the Bridgerton series - light and fun reading. I had no real doubt that Gareth and Hyancinth would end up happy and together, but it was nice to see how they got there. If you enjoyed the previous novels in this series, don't skip this one!

I enjoy the Bridgertons both in the books and the TV series. This is the fourth book in the series but it will be the upcoming season 3 of the show.

I have been looking forward to this one which features Colin and Penelope’s story. It was as delightful I had hoped. I did want to punch Colin a couple of times but he managed to get his act together and straighten out his errant ways.

These books have a great mix of romance and humor. I think I laughed more while reading this one than I did with the previous books. The banter among the Bridgerton siblings and their mother is wonderful.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

“She wanted to marry, truly she did, and she wasn't even holding out for a true love match. But was it really too much to hope for a husband for whom one had at least some affection?”

So I gave in. Bridgerton has been everywhere I turn lately so I decided to read it. I must admit that I didn't know what I was getting into. I usually find regency romances a tad boring. However, this one was really full of so much humor. I have to admit the Bridgerton family is huge but they all are so clearly defined that I was eager to hear more of their stories. Violet is the best regency mother I think I've ever read. I also look forward to finding out who Lady Whistledown is... I imagine it's going to be a huge shock when we discover who she is. Anyway, basics aside lets talk about Simon and Daphne's story. I love Daphne she is a no nonsense kind of girl. She is well aware of the way her society works and doesn't suffer many illusions of how life is going to go for her.

Daphne knows exactly what she wants... it's just getting it that proves to be the problem. Simon swoops in with a solution to both of their problems and as can be expected they begin to fall for each other. A lot of hilarious moments ensue. We get some tense moments with a duel... We get the swoon... the tortured past... the oh wow I can't believe she did that moment (one which really threw me...). The two are really a cute match and I enjoy the banter between them and watching how each of them becomes so comfortable around the other. I just wish that the book had picked up. It felt like things got the most interesting for me at about the last 30% of the book which took no time to read, whereas the first 70% felt like it took a month. However, I look forward to reading book 2.

When Colin Bridgerton returns from one of his many trips abroad, he begins to see his friend Penelope in a different way. Penelope, of course, has loved Colin for years. But Penelope has a secret identity - she is Lady Whistledown, author of the popular gossip paper among and about the ton. Colin, too, has writerly ambitions, which Penelope encourages, though his don't need to be secret. When Lady Danbury announces a prize for unmasking Lady Whistledown's true identity and the horrible Cressida takes credit, Pen can't bear it. Will Colin stand by her?

Quotes

Maybe, Penelope had thought on more than one occasion, part of the reason she loved him was that he made her feel comfortable with herself. (ch. 2)

"Isn't it nice...to discover that we're not exactly who we thought we were?" (Lady Danbury, ch. 3)

"I know I shouldn't care what other people say, but I do." (Penelope to Colin, ch. 3)

Colin was beginning to think that perhaps being well liked was overrated. (ch. 9)

"Love grows and changes every day." (Daphne, ch. 16)

...he'd come to the conclusion that his ability to make others feel good about themselves must stem from his own sense of self. (ch. 19)
