Jessie Taken Alive - Rencountre

The story is based around bullying inflicted on a young boy because he is honoring his traditional Lakota beliefs by wearing his hair long, and his identity as an Indigenous person.

The boy's name is Thunder and he is emotionally exhausted by the bullying he is enduring because of his long hair. The boys who are doing the bullying do not understand why a boy would want his hair long. They pull his braids, so he wants to cut his hair off thinking it will help the bullying stop. His grandmother intervenes and reminds him of their traditional teachings and the power his hair has.… (més)
