I don't know why I have been intrigued with this sort of book lately, I'm pretty sure the Hush Hush series started it.
Anyway...
Shadows is an unimaginative take on the A/F/N genre, not only is it packed full of your typical clichés but its following the whole instant love triangle with the main girl who, as far as I'm aware, is a complete fucking idiot.
Gaby/ Gabe doesn't know she is an angel, Rafa who used to slaughter demons with her enlightens her, protects her and does all the whipped ass boyfriend shit for her, and gets no respect from her for it until the end of the book.
The overall plot to this bland book is Gabe and her twin brother went missing and both A/F/N and demons thought they were dead until now. And both sides want answers. Gaby conveniently cant remember and has a head full of fake memories of herself and brother...frustrating to everyone around her.
Who has done it!?
So pretty much this book has me hooked.
Yep I will admit it. I find the main character boring and the entire imagination of the author quite...meh, but curiosity at where the plot is gonna go means I have probably bought into another House of Night series where nothing much happens until the last three chapters, ending on a cliff hanger to make you by the next book which will probably do the same thing.....can I get a hell yeah!?
The book is easy reading, and I did enjoy the fight scenes and Daisy was my favourite character even though she was only in it for a couple of short scenes, I think she was the most...shaped, meaning she seemed to have some depth to her. I will buy the next one, although it is basically appealing to the 13 year old girls still swooning over Twilight, I'm hoping it is much more than just a swoon book.
