Hello. I've been able to 'Add Books' on this site but have not been able to 'Add Music' or 'Add Movies'. Is this information available on this site? Thank you.

>1 2ReadNewBooks: This is a site designed for books, so it uses "book" as a general term for media. You can use the "add books" tab to add music and movies in exactly the same way.

As norabelle14 wrote, LibraryThing is a cataloging database, to which you can add anything you want -- there seem to be people who catalog things like old kitchen utensils! The buttons say "book" because the site is designed specifically for books, but as long as you don't need specialized database fields pertaining to the items, you can add most types of things. A lot of people catalog their music or movies.

The one caution is that these items may be harder to find in the online catalogs, particularly since they are less likely to have recognizable catalog numbers (most recent books use the standard ISBN numbers, and many older books had Library of Congress numbers that helped cataloging). If you have a lot of old music or movies, in particular, you may have to use manual entry to get it into the database. If you do that, you will probably want to visit the "Edit your book" page for each work, to set the "media" (sic.). There are a lot of choices there -- for books, e.g., there are hardcover, paperback, etc.; recordings can be "Digital file," "CD," or "record" (although with no specification for LP, 45, or 78; you can define as needed); movies can be digital files, DVD, VHS, Blu-ray, etc. It's useful to set that.

It might also be good to separate your movies and your music into separate Collections.
