There seems to be a formula with this series (stop reading here - spoilers coming): put about 6 kids and a couple of adults in peril. Kill one kid in a lingering way. Kill an adult off-screen. Injure at least one kid. One kid has to be especially annoying. The adults are kind of stupid. They get rescued just in time, before anyone else dies. But this is an adult reader's review, and this is the 3rd one of these I've read. I think kids will enjoy this series - I would absolutely recommend it to my middle school-aged friends. So...2 stars for me, 4 stars for kids...making it a 3-star read overall. ( )
