A pretty solid story with some interesting revelations and character changes. I can see how some fans won't like the changes. But the Firefly crew was mainly consistent in their inconsistency and flaws. ( )

5 stars for the extra story at the end, The Warrior and the Wind, River telling Wash and Zoe’s child how her parents met and how the crew came together as if she were telling a fairy tale. Lovely.

I liked the main story, but I was bummed to be left with so many loose ends by the time it wrapped. The artwork was fantastic, especially the cover art and in the bonus story. ( )

And so it ends. As far as I can tell, this story takes place after Firely, Serenity, and any of the other graphic novels. We have everyone settling down into a new routing, Emma growing up, Inara in retirement (all down to Earth...). The main plotline follows the additional River-likes we saw last time around, but there are a few new twists. Enough that I could very well have seen a few episodes or a season of Firefly built around it. If only.

On top of that, we have hints at a more interesting past for Inara (we'd had this before, but never answers):



It was a bit disjointed and felt a bit rushed, but it's still an enjoyable story.

And to top everything else off, a bedtime story told by River to Emma. It's ... the most beautiful, River thing I've ever seen:

Oh, that is a wonderful way to send off a series. I don't know if there will ever be more Firefly/Serenity comics, but I'm still glad to have read them. ( )

Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse is really a lost opportunity. It took a great premise and crammed way too much story into too short of a format. This would've been a great story if it had the room to breathe. Imagine if it was spread out over 13 episodes of a TV series, each episode building up to the eventual climax and cliffhanger of the finale. But instead, it's like 13 hours of television was crammed into a two-hour movie, except the comic version of that analogy. Some characters are well written and in character, but others feel off. None of them get enough time spent on them to feature any true character development. Things have changed massively in the Firefly universe in the comic, but the characters barely seem any different. Even Jayne's arc feels shortchanged. It's a mess of a graphic novel, and that's a shame, really.
