Chronicle of a bizarre trek over the mountains in Peru by a group of amateur mountaineers determined to hold the world's highest dinner party. They dined at 6769 metres after numerous disasters, illness and hardship, all humorously related by the initiator of the expedition. Foreword by Tim Macartney-Snape, a serious mountainer. The book has significantly more pathos than you'd expect from the tv smiles and indeed ends on a very low note. And, you get to read all about the endless airplane excess baggage issues they faced on the trip.
The "Social Climbers" may have limited interest for anyone that didn't see or doesn't remember that 15 second clip all those years ago. ( )
