I’ve read a few other Sullivan family books and they are all good. One reader stated it perfectly, it takes you away from reality for a few hours. The author has a great way of detailing the characters to be wonderful, loving people and always have that love ever after. Before they get there, they always have a hard time doing so. This is the first in a series of the Sullivan’s in London and a beautiful, fictional place Elderflower Island. The way the other describes it makes it a beautiful and interesting place, a place that is the perfect backdrop for Mari and Owen to start their lives. In the story, Mari is the only survivor of a man who was her father but he left when Mari was at the age of three. She was left a bookshop in London and she knew she had to go there not only for her curiosity but also to see if she could learn more about the father she never knew. Not knowing what to expect, when she walked into the shop her heart was broken. It was in a horrible, dusty mess and was going to take a lot to get it back to a real bookshop. Just as she realized what she was in for, Owen Sullivan walks in and pretty much saves the day and steals her heart. Then she meets all of the Sullivans and residents of Elderflower and she knew this was the place for her.

I love the Sullivan stories and look forward to more of them in London. They are the type of people you would like your family to be. Truly is a great way to leave reality for a little while. ( )
