My heart swelled with pride as I read each woman's brilliant and highly encouraging journey. A highly motivating and positive read. ( )

this is very inspiring. i only knew of a handful of these women, and while there is a lot more to learn about each of them, this is an excellent start. i'm sure i missed a great deal by listening to the audio and not seeing the illustrations, but the content was great.

i was especially moved by josephine baker, who i'd heard of as an entertainer but never knew for what she should be known for (activism, fighting nazis - she totally charmed them, even as a black woman!).

i also can't believe i didn't know - wasn't taught, at photography school for fuck's sake (although maybe i forgot?) - that robert capa was the alias of a man and woman photography team, making gerda taro one of the first female war photographers. ( )

#100ImmigrantWomen #NetGalley
I got the e-arc through Netgalley for an honest review. Yes, it is my first Rebel Girls book, and I would do my best to read the other series's other books.
There were a couple of women in the book that I knew about them. The book is very informative; it takes different women from different eras worldwide and showcases different ethnicities, nationalities, and religions.
The 100 immigrant women and many more did, do, and will continue doing more for a better future for humanity.
This volume focuses on immigrant women who left their birth country and moved elsewhere for some reason or another. Some did it out of necessity, others just because they were looking for new opportunities. The formatting feels a bit off in the Kindle version, but I am sure the hardcover will be beautiful to read. A nice book to read for inspiration. ( )

I love everything that Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls create! The books are fabulous as is their podcast and this book is no different. 100 inspirational women from all over the world who have immigrated at some point during their lives for various reasons are showcased wonderfully here. From different points in time, careers, and cultures these women are sure to inspire and become a heroine for a rebel girl. Each woman is uniquely illustrated by female illustrators from around the world and the artwork is stunning! ( )
