Charming picture book with a non-hibernating hedgehog who wakes up to his surprise and encounters friends rabbit, wood mouse, badger, mole, and squirrels who drop Christmas decorations on him. He arrives home to his surprise since he had no experience of Christmas and is grateful for the friends who helped him learn about it. As an aunt to a 4 and 7 year olds who love hedgehogs I expect this will appeal to many. ( )

This book. Oh, my goodness. I cannot express how stunning this book is, and I will be searching for it in physical form. The Christmas Hedgehog reminded me of books my mother used to read me when I was a child, and I could see this being a perfect gift for her this coming Christmas. The story is sweet and thoughtful, and I giggled several times as our curious hedgehog continued to explore. Ian Humpheryes has really done a spectacular job with this book, and I look forward to reading it with my children this Christmas season! ( )

This book is a delight. Gorgeous illustrations and such a touching story. Hedgehog has always slept through Christmas and never experienced one. This particular year, he wakes up and as he visits all his friends and learns about Christmas, he picks up some Christmas knowledge and cheer along the way. I borrowed this book through Kindle Unlimited and liked it so well, that I bought it. ( )

The Christmas Hedgehog by Ian Humpheryes is a vivid, captivating, and well-written book. This book is about a hedgehog learning what Christmas is about. This year hedgehog awoke early due to the warmer weather. He visits his friend's gopher, mouse, mole, rabbit, beaver, and badger. You can follow these characters in all of Ian's books. His friends help him understand decorating, sharing, and the meaning of Christmas. He is thrilled to have such great friends to help him. The illustrations in this book are life-like and beautiful. The pages will captivate the younger audience, and lessons on sharing and caring can be taught. This would be a great read-aloud book for pre-k through third grade and a great addition to any school or home library. Ian Humphreys is becoming a favorite author of mine. ( )

This book has beautiful artwork and a lovely message about friendship. While there are some issues with grammar and punctuation, I would certainly read this to my kids at Christmas. I also liked that there was some factual information about hedgehogs at the end of the story. I actually wouldn't have minded if there had been a bit more of that. ( )
