One of the more enjoyable modern romances that I've read. This book takes the lustful chemistry of your typical romance protagonists and gives it a legitimate beginning. These characters don't have some inexplicable attraction; rather they have an intimacy grown out of a shared traumatic childhood and a real respect and friendship. This takes on some very adult overtones when the "bad boy of golf" (really?) returns to town. There are some twists along the way and some heavy adulting to do here - it's not all fun and games, but that's what makes for a very enjoyable romance. Real tension. Makes me want to read the rest in this series. (

Kate and Jesse

I expected this book to be fluffy and funny. It had it's funny moments but it was much more a character study. Everyone is telling Kate to be this or that and she tries only to find that life is better when you're just yourself.

Jesse has his own problems including a previously unknown 12 year-old son to come to terms with.

I just loved this book, especially the thought it is the first of three books about childhood friendships. Katie's story; based on three friends who grew up together who have remained close through the years and work together. Kate's story is about her childhood love, Jesse....a hunk, sexy, charming, all of the things that make this book steamy and fun. If you read the editorial reviews, you'll see why you need to buy this great book! (
