A fable that resonates a bit more deeply with a second reading. Too long for preschoolers, but great for both girls and boys a little older. Too many of these kinds of stories are either 'pretty' for girls, or exuberant and coarse, for boys.

Anyway, the themes of beauty and belief are important and told with grace, not didactically. And even though this is two decades old, Tommy Morgan's behavior is instantly recognizable to anyone who has ever encountered an internet troll. ( )
