I liked this book for 3 reasons. First, the book lists many forms of transportation. This book would be great to implement into a lesson about ways people get from point A to point B. Amongst the many forms of transportation that listed were mentioned in this story were a wagon, a car, a boat and a train. Another thing I liked about this book is that with each form of transportation another animal was added to the group, when on the train “there was an elephant and a long-legged crane.” By adding more characters to each transportation device students can picture how full the form of transportation would be. When too many animals were in the train, the story says “the train will not go.” This is great for students to see that if there are too many passengers the transportation vehicle will not operate properly. Lastly, I liked the repetitiveness of the story. With each transportation device there were too many animals aboard, so it “would not go.” When reading this aloud to a class it would be easy for students to follow and be able to predict what happens next. The big idea of this story was learning about different forms of transportation. Because it lists so many with detailed illustrations students will be able to learn what the transportation device is and what it looks like. ( )

34 months - boring for parents but a good early reader for kids. ( )

I liked this book, “A Dragon in a Wagon: A Book About Ways to Travel” for several reasons. First, this book is an introduction to how the library is a “magic castle” with Word Windows “because the words and pictures let you look and see many things”. After the introduction, you turn the page to meet a girl named Megan, and a dragon talking about different ways to travel to different destinations. Even though there is not much of a plot, the story is enhanced with rhyming verses and with a variety of modes of transportation. An example of this would be “Megan and the dragon hop into a car. But the car will not go.” A new form of travel is featured on each turn of the page. Second, the illustrations of the animals and Megan by Dana Regan are simple yet bold to grab the attention of the young readers. Each colorful page makes children want to learn more about how the main character, Megan, and the dragon are moving to their next destination. Another reason I like this book, is because after the story ends there is a page titled “Questions and Activities”. This would be a very useful tool for a parent or teacher to have a child answer questions about the story for comprehension purposes. Overall this story teaches children about the different forms of travel in order to get from one destination to the next. ( )

This would be a good story for very young readers to read about adventures and trasportation. I read this book to my nephew who is 6 and he enjoyed it. ( )
