Song lee is a stereotypical meek Asian stereotype and isn't even the main character of her own book. ( )

I'm a good, polite, shy girl. I always liked Song Lee more than Horrible Harry. How wonderful she has her own books now! Of course, Kline has made sure that the boys who liked the Horrible Harry books will still like these. There's still plenty of mischief and low humor. When I was teaching I preferred 5th grade - but Kline reveals the charm & fun of 2nd grade and I would definitely study this entire series were I to be assigned younger children. ( )

Song Lee is a second grader who is from Korea living in America and going to a regular American school. She is a very shy child, but has the love of everyone in her class. She is too shy to do an assignment so she disguises herself through a tree she makes. She brings "life" back into the classroom and makes a great observation in her journal entry about a class mate.

I enjoyed this book, it’s very realistic, as far as the boys in the class and how they react to one another. This book very well could be written about a second grade classroom in any school in America today. I like how the writer focuses on child who is from another country and makes the story come to life.

This would be a good book to have in our class collection of beginner chapter books. It was a somewhat easy read and it is one of a collection. I like how the writer writes about real life everyday situations, so if someone in the class were having a problem in a certain area, the teacher could pull that book and incorporate that problem in a lesson with that appropriate book.
