It's interesting to read Secret Seven titles now and to realise how much more their lives are constrained by adults than the lives of the Famous Five, where adults seem so much more of an optional extra. It's also interesting to finally reach the titles I've never read before - even if there were five pages missing right at the crucial point! The difference in attitudes is much more obvious to me now of course - strange to think that once upon a time it would never even have struck me as odd that the girls get left out of nearly everything, that Peter is overbearing or that all the children come from privileged backgrounds.
