After watching the Ken Burns series NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA'S BEST IDEA on PBS (thank you PBS) a once again fell in love with John Muir. Having read several other offerings on the life of Muir, I found Mr. Worster's work and am enjoying it immensely. What's not to enjoy? Muir defined my belief in a Higher Power many years ago and I find such a solace in reading about him once again. ( )

I would like to add this one to my home library. Believe it or not I did not know much at all about Muir and I now life approx 2 hrs from Yosemite. Reading this new bio was at the right time. I enjoyed the family background, relationships, adventurous spirit of Muir and tales of other historical figures he encountered during his life, how what he documented about the earth's flora affected some policies. Good history mixed in with his adventurers and seat of pants exploring. ( )

Somehow I expected John Muir to be more interesting. While I find the author sometimes gets in the way of the subject, John Muir himself, I just don't find that intriguing or inspiring. I get very stuck on his father's religious and spiritual evolution. ( )
