This is a powerful book. Great discussion of environmental issues. ( )

Winona LaDuke's book is amazing. This is well written by an activist for Indian rights. LaDuke presents the state of the environment focusing on various treaties and land struggles on reservations across North America. I actually met the writer when she came to our school to talk about the book and to do a signing. She knows what she is talking about and she is very passionate about the cause. A definite must-read. And a little known fact: she ran as vice-president to the USA on Ralph Nader's ticket. ( )

I have decided there are some books that should be required reading for the planet. LaDuke's work is brilliant and important for all people, particularly for Native folks engaging for struggles of healing and decolonization. This book is inspiring and hopeful while not shrinking from some of the difficult and disturbing issues facing Native people and the future of the planet. ( )
