The lives of over 100 women are detailed in this book, which is organized by the role for which the women are most well-known. The groupings range from "Clued-up creatives" like Frida Kahlo, Joni Mitchell, and J.K. Rowling, to "Inspiring campaigners" such as Harriet Tubman, Aung San Suu Kyi, and Malala Yousafzai, to "Amazing achievers" including Wilma Rudolph, Junko Tabei, and Serena Williams. In total, there are six different categories. In addition to the 100 women covered, in varying degrees of depth, the book is interspersed with sections of "Who came before..." and "Who came after..." to provide some additional names of interest for further outside study. The book closes with a list of notable women in the USA and Canada who weren't included in the main pages of the text, but the publisher felt were still worth mentioning. There is also a brief glossary, an index, and a page of acknowledgements, primarily for photo/artwork credits.
The book has varying fonts and font sizes, as well as words in bold to set off their importance. The colorful images invite the reader to take a closer look and learn more about these amazing women.
