With Spanish/Mexican Americans everso present in the classroom, it is really important to become familiar with this group and their lives outside of the US. This book follows a boy through his transition into the States, and talks about the struggles he faces in doing so. It is important for teachers to be advocates for any student going through such a major change especially at an early age, and to do so we need to be familiar with their home lives.
