Harry and Emily want to be able to stay up all the way until midnight on New Year's Eve so they can celebrate with their parents. On the days leading up to New Year's, they "practice" trying to stay up late and find it's harder than they realized! Eventually they figure out how they can successfully stay awake -- while also discovering the mystery behind the loud snoring they've been hearing.

This was a cute book that showcased some typical New Year's celebrations, which is handy for talking to young children about the holiday when it is upcoming. The story of the siblings trying to stay up is pretty funny (one of my toddlers thought the part where they tried holding their eyelids open was hilarious), and they show initiative and creativity with their eventual solution. My only real complaint is that this book seems a little bit long/difficult for an "easy reader" but overall this is a good story - especially for a holiday that has a relatively scarce offering of relevant books.
