HTML:THE GREATEST WESTERN WRITER OF THE 21ST CENTURY William W. Frank Morgan may be down, but he isn’t out! In the previous book titled No Man’s Land, Frank set out to do what he normally does…drift. Frank doesn’t go looking for trouble, but he seems to find it no matter where he goes. In No Man’s Land, Frank reunites with old friends, makes some new ones, and saves some women and children from desperadoes. In that tale, Frank got severely injured more than once and now as readers begin the adventure in Manhunt, Frank’s friend Texas Ranger Tyler Beaumont tries to give Frank a reason to get out of bed and start living again.
When the two head to Parker Country, Franks old stomping grounds, it is because Frank received a telegram asking for his help. So, Tyler goes with Frank to help straighten another legal matter out but ends up helping Frank with the trouble now brewing where he once lived. The trouble stems from folks who want to build stockyards and have a rail spur there and those who don’t. Some are willing to do anything to get what they want because it involves their side making money, but it might just spell the end of a nice growing town.
Frank’s old flame Mercy’s has a husband who has been kidnapped, and Mercy finds herself being taken too by the two families wanting to shut the judge up who is against the railroad coming to the county. The Crowders and Whiteheads are a bad, evil combination who don’t care one whit about anybody else, and no one’s life is sacred to them. Add to that Mercy’s daughter, who has some of his physical features and Frank’s fighting spirit, but is she Frank’s?
With all that happens in the tale one would think that Frank has enough to deal with, but when you add in young guns who want to take out the gunfighter to gain a reputation, well smoke will fill the air. The Last Gunfighter series centers around Frank Morgan. While he is aging, his draw hasn’t slowed down a bit. Frank comes to the aid of folks and tries to keep the peace, but some folks just won’t let by gones be by gones. Tyler is an interesting young man who sticks to Frank not just because his father spoke highly of him, but he knows he can learn some good things from Frank.
Come join the wild west action, romance and suspense in the Johnstone series, The Last Gunfighter.
