This series is FOR ADULT READERS ONLY and MUST be read IN ORDER !!! The first book is Desolace. The second book is Haven (Desolace). The third book is Outpost 13 (Desolace). The fourth book is City of the Dead (Desolace). The companion book is Destined for Darkness. This is the fifth book. If you read them outside of the publication order you miss a lot and risk major confusion.

Every book delves deeper into the mysteries of Desolace and the portals to alternate Earths. This is well illustrated in this book more than the previous ones. There is only one Desolace but many Earths. The portals never link to the same Earth after they close so it begs the question will Katie ever be able to return home?

I was enthralled quickly by this series and continue to be more so with each and every book. Edward and Katie continue to grow as people and leaders as they face tragedy and loss at every turn. Nothing is entirely what it seems anywhere on Desolace. The surprises are endless for our intrepid band of adventurers so there is never a dull moment!

Barnes blends action an adventure seamlessly with fantasy and horror making for an intense and satisfying reading experience. I would recommend this series to paranormal mystery fans as well a fantasy lovers and horror buffs. It truly is a genre bending adventure and I cannot wit to read more!!!

Personally I believe this book should be read in it's published order...but I would suggest reading at least the first three books before you read this one otherwise it will ruin alot of the surprises in the series. The first book is Desolace. The second book is Haven (Desolace). The third book is Outpost 13 (Desolace). The fourth book is City of the Dead (Desolace). This series must be read in order and this is the only book that is a blast from the past and does not fit in the series order chronologically.

This book illustrates George's life and how he got to be the way he is. But first it starts with the story of his father's life and eventually his birth. It is a very scary book and not to be missed! I never would have thought it would be in me to ever empathize withe George on any level but there were times in this book where I felt for him as a person. From the way the story is laid out you can see he had no choice really in what his eventual life would be...those choices were made for him by others and beyond his control.

This book is definitely a horror story with a dash of fantasy whereas the other books in the series are horror/fantasy completely. I am glad this book was not released as a prequel but as an added bonus story to further explain one of the characters. I am not sure I would have made it past this book if it was the first regardless of the fact the writing is awesome. But as I read the books in proper order this book was just explanation of how things came to be.. and necessary :) I really love this series and can not wait to read more!!!

This series Must be read in order!! Book one is Desolace... and it is ALWAYS free on Amazon :) Book two is Haven (Desolace). Book three is Outpost 13 (Desolace). The companion novel is Destined for Darkness and should be read ONLY after at least the first three books are read but before the fifth one as it was released first. This is book four and the fifth book is Cemetery Hill: Desolace Series V.

The deeper the group delves into the sinister forces behind the metal monsters the more danger they are in. Even the most innocent seeming activity can lead to dire consequences. The group is learning this the hard way... unfortunately for them. It does not pay to act before you think and Edward just might learn that in this episode of Barnes' addictive epic horrific fantasy series!

I LOVE these books so much that I suffer from a major book hangover every time I finish one and have to wait FOREVER for the next one to come out! The creepy horror bits are a perfect foil to the epic quest mentality of the major fantasy aspects. All in all these books are a treat to read and completely engrossing. I would recommend this series to any hardcore horror fans who like a touch of the fantastic. Each book is better than the last and I cannot wait to read the next installment!!!

This series must be read in order to be understood and enjoyed. The next book always starts right after the previous one ends. The first book is Desolace and the second book is Haven (Desolace).

This book was full of plot twists that came straight out of left field but in a good way :D I never saw the future coming (though I guess I should have as they had already portal jumped into the past...) or the drastic way the world changed. It renewed the complete and total urgency of their quest (at least for me) that the world would be so devastated by the Black Knight should their quest fail.

No one is entirely who or what they seem to be in this series. I never can tell who will survive and who will fall under the scythe of the reaper... I find this refreshing and exciting and frustrating! I finally start to adore (or at least kind of understand in some cases) a character they die... the real question is who will actually make it to the end of the book... or the series... or if anyone will.

With every book Lucian add another layer to the genre mashup bringing new surprises and characters (even character types) to this complex and varied fantasy horror story. At it's core though the series remains fantasy/horror throughout and I really like that. I have enjoyed the rollercoaster ride form the beginning and can not wait to read the next installment of ups and downs twists and turns!

**this book is suitable for adults only due to graphic violence and nightmarish horror elements.
