Rissa Blakeley has crafted a wonderfully rich world...think Walking Dead, Vamps who aren't, secrets, lies, and love. Yeah, mash all of those together. You will hate the villains, you will sometimes hate the main characters, but in the end you will find yourself completely enthralled and loving this cast of broken, yet heartfelt characters.

Prepare yourself, because it is a long read, but what a captivating tale. It was just long enough, and left me wanting and waiting for the next book in the series.… (més)

Such a twist on the people I THOUGHT I knew! This book will tear your insides out, chew them up, and then light them on fire! If you're looking for something to make you "feel", this is it. Just make sure you have insurance on your kindle, because you will invariably want to smash it with a hammer when you're done! It's been nearly a week since I read this, and I needed the time to get some distance from the story, so I could at least try to be objective. See, Gunther is not the total d-hole that we thought, not entirely anyway. He might even be redeemable ; you'll have to judge that for yourself. Henry, on the other hand, just keeps on devolving, until you're not sure whether to applaud him when he puts the gun to his own head. Some new characters are added to this merry band of post apocalyptic survivalists, as well. Thoroughly enjoyable, yet makes me hesitate to finish book3, while book 4 isn't out yet. Read it... Not your typical paranormal romance, for sure. What begins as a tale of pain and misery, for our reluctant hero, Henry, morphs into a beautiful romance when he meets Elaina. Their love is what ultimately carries them through the coming apocalypse (well that, and the booze, and (oh yeah) the blood...). This is a pretty high-intensity story, which is (thankfully) broken up some, by more peaceful retrospectives, and some surprising humor. The characters are very well described, and the plot is phenomenal. At over 600 pages, it took me a couple of days to get through, and the surprise ending nearly caused me to inflict physical damage to my beloved Kindle. Thankfully, there are more books available, so I won't have to wait to find out what happens next.… (més)
