Constance Hill

Excellent reproduction of 1902 book by two sisters who journeyed in southern England and followed in the footsteps of Jane Austen, making them early Janeite tourists. Covers all southern England major sites. Because of the date, they were able to talk to many people now lost to us - eg the son of JA's god-daughter. Well worth reading.

Not really what I was expecting. The book had hardly any description of the building itself and mainly concentrated on the householders who assisted the French inhabitants sheltering from the French Revolution.
