It does probably help that I live here, already knew about the sheepherders and the arborglyphs, and have enjoyed the family-style dinners at Basque restaurants. But I think anyone interested in Basque or eastern Cal/ western NV history would benefit from this. One thing I learned is that this history is really young. The sheepherders were (still) being recruited from their homelands in the 1940s and 50s, and carving the arborglyphs as late as the 1960s!
Arcadia Pub. Images of America should have a subscription service like Time-Life or QPB. I could easily see myself getting my first four books free and then buying another every month for a long time. Even though I don't buy new books, but get them from the library.
