This is a popular rules set for Napoleonic wargames. It is designed for play of brigade-sized units on normal-sized or smaller tables. No precise ground scale is given, as the rules are designed to accommodate figures of different scales. Movement and firing ranges are measured in “base widths.” However, it can be played with cards, substituting or supplementing the figures. When the cards are used, an inch can be estimated at approximately 100 yards. Each turn represents approximately an hour.

During play, casualties are marked for infantry and cavalry are marked off on the unit cards (hopefully you placed them in plastic card holders to protect the from permanent marks). As hits are marked off, the units become progressively less effective. Artillery works differently. What is marked off on artillery cards is ammunition. When all its ammunition is used up, the unit is removed from the table.

Blucher includes a simple system for generating miniatures battles. This system was used in an expansion kit called The Hundred Days, which also includes unit cards explicit to that campaign. Another expansion kit, War to the Death, covering the war in Spain and Portugal, includes cards but contains nothing about the campaign system.… (més)
