I LOVE THIS BOOK! I thought that penzi's parents were a complete failure with her dad who visited every seven years only to leave his wife pregnant, and at eighteen, her mon left her two year old brother to go find herself! Penzi got her degree and took care of her brothers, but her dad's attorney sent her a package that only she could open, but SHE was dyslexic and had to wait for Sam to read it to her. I loved this book so much and I was glad that Penzi embraced her skills to help free her mom for a murder that in her heart she knew that she had not done. This book starts with Mpenzy caught by the cockroach of depression. Her shifter bodyguard and her family drag her out into the sunshine at the shore and work hard to ease her stresses and help her to recover. They take her to a popular concert where she interacts with the star, who is from NOLA, and his entourage. Later, he is poisoned, then murdered. Mpenzi is bound to do whatever she can, citing her self-assigned role as his barrister, but feels too close to the suspects. Good sleuthing with lots of twists and several subplots including her witchcraft and bees! Very engaging characters and storyline, and many instances of situational humor. Don't miss this one just because there is no gratuitous erotica!… (més)

Mpenzi is a barrister, an oldest sister, a new white witch, has already investigated one murder successfully, new to living in France, and dyslexic. Her father assigned a body guard to her, and Felix just happens to be a shifter ;) The bakery of the best baker of eclairs in her small town blows up and eventually the baker's partial remains are found inside. The mayor asks her to investigate, but quietly, so Madame Prosecutor doesn't find out. There are red herrings, plot twists, suspense, and even a witch doctor! There is a whole lot more, and getting to know the tiniest bit about life in a small seaside town in France is only one of the best parts. Excellent plot! Excellent writing!… (més)
