Now don't call me biased because I love cats. I LOVE THIS MAGNIFICENT COLORING BOOK! I already colored four pages, just for the sheer love of it! Finally, something tangible to color other than 1960's type of flower designs that never change! Samantha Snyder is a true artist with real talent. Volume 12 is an unbelievable mix of words and cats to color that gives your heart a special lift! I am so glad that Word Slinger and Ms. Snyder gave me this book to try in exchange for my honest review. You will especially love to color in this book!… (més)

This book features 50 images to color, each being a mandala of sorts. I really enjoyed the variety in the images and also the various levels of complexity. Each image is printed on it’s own page so you can later cut out the page and use the image for something else – origami or maybe hang them as prayer flags or use them as little gift envelopes.

The paper quality of this book was the same as Mistakes Are Proof That You Are Trying. The paper was thin and the pages tended to curl a little as I worked through it, tho I was using markers instead of colored pens. Sometimes my markers did bleed through to the next image. However, this didn’t bother me much because this book was so much fun to work with. When I had a bleed through, I could usually pick a color on the to use on the second image that covered it up.

I was gifted this book out of the blue last December while I was quite ill and the coloring was sometimes all I could do. In fact, I unexpectedly spent nearly a week in the hospital in January and this coloring book came with me. The nurses all enjoyed it as well and wanted to know where to pick up a copy. Mostly, I watch movies or listen to an audiobook while I color. I like to have my hands busy, but sometimes of late my abilities are limited. Having such an interesting coloring book definitely made my illness easier to bear.… (més)

This book features 50 images to color, each featuring a different quote or saying. Some of these quotes are by famous historical people and all are meant to be inspirational.

I got into this book thinking it was an adult coloring book. Therefore, I expected a certain level of intricacy or detail in the images. That was not so. Most of the images are on the simple side. So, you as the user, can make it more challenging by adding your own coloring techniques like shading. However, I think that makes this book accessible to a wider range of coloring enthusiasts of all ages. If you have kids, this might be the best book for you both to color in, passing it back and forth.

My experience with adult coloring books only involves one other book, so that is what I have to compare with. The paper quality of this book was not what I expected either. It was thinner and the pages tended to curl a little as I worked through it (using markers, not colored pencils). The images are printed on only 1 side, so you don’t bleed through to an image on the backside. However, sometimes my markers did bleed through to the next image. So maybe this book is better suited to those using colored pencils than markers if you are looking for clean final images.

Since the images are printed on only 1 side of the paper, this means you can cut them out when you are done and do additional arts and crafts with them, like hanging them about as prayer flags. Or, if you have lots of kids over, you can cut them out ahead of time and give each kid a page to color. I liked this flexibility of this particular book.

The recurring theme of positivity via the quotes and sayings was a little overwhelming after a while. I’m a bit of a cynic, so I find I can only spend so much time with this book before I start having trouble taking it seriously. Also, most of the images use the same little stylistic details and coloring that same A or same G over and over again through various images was repetitive.

I've been doing a lot of doodling and coloring of doodles and mandalas. When given the opportunity to try out this doodle book and review it, I responded with a resoundeing YES PLEASE! In this day and age our stress levels are higher. We can't always get out and do things that will reduce our stress level. For me, when I would come home late from work, have to fix dinner then deal with my mother who now lives with us, I was not always able to go out and do something to reduce my stress levels from the day. However, I could sit and relax while doodling and coloring, while making sure my mom was safe and sound. The difference between what I had been coloring and what this book is all about is simple. I'd been coloring pictures, or creating my own doodles. Yes I have three journals of doodles. I opened thsi book and realized there was an inspirational saying on each and every page. The drawings are incorporated around the words. I tried colored pencils, twist up crayons, regular crayons, permanent markers and water color markers. All of them work quite well. I have not tried my water color pencils yet. The key word there is yet. It will be coming, I'm just not sure when. I really loved the inspirational sayings. Not only do you calm down and relax while coloring, but you get inspired by the quotes. Definitely recommending this to all of my friends who color like me.… (més)
