A good history about an early Hollywood studio. I love it when it discussed the building of Inceville, describing the actors who worked there, the films that were made there – it really gave you a picture of what it was like. After it was sold for a housing development in the early 20’s, John Gilbert said he was so sad to see what had happened. I wonder what Gilbert would think of California now. The description of the Culver studio purchase and work done there was also of great interest. However, I didn’t feel like I got to know Ince, the man, very well at all. The introduction to the book debunked all the controversy and theories that surrounded his death. The rest of the book was more about the studio and the business than about the man. I did like that the author followed up and let us know what happened to his wife and sons.… (més)
