This is a lovely book and about a subject that interests me. I’d love to read a non-fiction for adults full length book about the subject.

Almost everyone I’ve known and know is a coffee person. I’m more of a water person than anything but I do not like coffee and I do like tea.

The tea/cultural facts in this book are engrossing and educational. I learned some things.

My only quibble is reading it felt awkward. You really have to read the book at least twice. Once for the main sparse poetic text and another time to read all the facts. I read it all at once in chronological order but if I was reading it to someone else I’d probably choose the two times through way.

I appreciated learning about all the different types of teas and customs in different parts of the world.

At the end of the book the author writes about “My Tea Story” and reading about her personal interest and experiences made the book extra interesting.

The illustrations greatly enhance the text information and they fit the subject well. I enjoyed them.

I think this book is great for reading aloud one to one and to groups, for independent readers, and I think girls and boys will find it equally fascinating.

Does anybody know/can anybody tell if the translator is a woman or a man? Thanks.

"Tea for one. Tea for two.
Tea for me. Tea for you."

Kiddo wasn't interested in this ("it's not really a story") but I loved it. Primary rhyming text is simple and minimal; secondary text gives more information about each kind of tea or tea-related tradition around the world.

Moroccan mint tea, masala chai in India, butter tea in Tibet, chai yen in Thailand, tea made with berries, plants, and roots in North America, hibiscus tea in West Africa and South Sudan, matcha in Japan, zavarka in Russia, English teatime, "pulled tea" in Malaysia, pink chai with baking soda in Pakistan, tea with nabat (rock candy) in Iran, silk stocking tea in Hong Kong, gongfu tea ceremony in China, bubble tea from Taiwan, maté in Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, hibiscus and sorrel in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Illustrations remind me of Carson Ellis.
