Although Mount Pleasant Road Baptist Church is now in the heart of the city of Toronto, it was not always that way. When it was built ninety years ago, it found itself in the midst of the rapidly developing Toronto suburb of the former village of Davisville. What a privilege the church had then to bear witness to the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of a flourishing part of Toronto where a large number of single-family homes, many still extant, were being built and occupied by young couples and their growing families. Over the years, the area has changed both in terms of ethnic composition and various other demographics—the skyline is now dominated by a variety of high-rise apartment and condominium buildings with a significant number of single professionals in the area. But the message that the church still holds forth has not changed, namely, Christ as the only savior from sin and hope for humanity. 
This brief history of the Mount Pleasant church documents the ups and downs of the church during these significant changes in the Davisville area and records for posterity what God has done in and through the Church.
