I recently read Curse of the Seven 70s by Sharon E. Anderson and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a fun take on the Dracula legend, with lots of nods to history and Bram Stoker. How Vlad and his brother Varo survived to the twenty-first century is interesting, although part of me wants to know how Varo wound up in the wall of Cassandra’s great-aunt’s cottage. This is a story of good vs. evil, but even the bad guys wind up with a HEA! Cassandra is a good heroine for the story, as she is a mix of self-assertive and doormat for a man. I saw the story almost in graphic novel mode, with caricatures of virtually all the characters, including the Asian students hiding out in the library. It put a smile on my face on a bad day! ( )Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . The book truly needs an editor. There's no continuity and it doesn't make sense a lot of sense. Plus,I simply didn't like it the storyline. Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . An entertaining but slapdash read. There were scenes that had real potential, but were never followed through with. A side character, Bridget, was the most fleshed out character and her scenes were quite enjoyable. However lack of believability in multiple scenes combined with a lack of explanations or background information left me at the end of the book wondering what exactly happened and so what? Cassandra Blake is having a very bad day. Her fiancé dumps her for a silicone debutant and convinces her to store his boxes of precious research. If that wasn't bad enough, she's just moved into a cottage stocked only with sardines, peach, and 50 year-old Scotch. Heartbroken, hungry, and a little bit drunk, Cassandra soon realizes that just when she thinks things can't get any worse, sometimes they can get very strange'like finding a skeleton in the basement of her newly inherited cottage. But when that skeleton suddenly becomes a hot, romantic, and business savvy vampire named Varo'well, things can get a little better. That is'until his infamous older brother shows up, and their centuries old sibling rivalry threatens her chance at true love. Can their love survive her conniving ex-fiancé, Varo's vengeful brother, and the Curse of the Seven 70s? No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
