I'm probably in the minority here, but I wasn't overly happy with any of these books. The stars are for the amount of research that went in to writing them; it was the writing itself that just felt very flat.

Reading true crime, you come to expect a certain layout of the story: early life, descent in to crime, the crimes, being caught, etc, etc. However in these books, that layout was jumbled. There would be a bit talking about autopsy results, then the next bit had the killer still being chased by police. It left me feeling very confused, with little sense of what was going on.

Other reviewers have enjoyed these books quite a bit, so YMMV. ( )

I received a copy of this book from the author (thank you!) through LibraryThing for free in exchange for an honest review.
I have always been interested in true crime and the criminals who commit them (what makes them the way they are) and have read many true crime novels. I found this one to be well researched which is impressive considering the fact that the author discusses more than one serial killer. He also takes the time to discuss current theories on why and how these murderers become the way they are.
He also leaves a special bonus which may not appeal to those who only want to read about serial killers. It is a book by another author called "St. Clair's Defeat: The Indians Massacre of the American Army". It is written by Dwayne Walker. Everyone knows about Custer's Last Stand but this massacre seems to have been forgotten. I found it a very interesting and informative account.
All in all, I found this book to be a fast but informative read with special treats offered inside with other books. ( )

This is an interesting true crime collection of serial killers. All of whom I didn't know about previously. It was pretty in-depth and went into psychology and their childhood backgrounds.

The problem is the editing. These books really need to be redone with a good editor. "Grizzly" for "grisly" actually made me laugh. "Grizzly murders." I just pictured a huge bear rampaging around California with a knife and a chloroform bottle. If you can look past the numerous mistakes, it is a decent read.

I was given a free copy for an honest review. ( )
